Blissfields Festival Preview, 03/07 – 06/07
Vicarage Farm, near Winchester, Hampshire
Last year there were only two music festivals in the UK that completely sold out. Glastonbury was one, and Blissfields was the other. Last year was headlined by Bastille and Mystery Jets, with other acts including London Grammar, Clean Bandit, Bondax, The Other Tribe, Public Service Broadcasting and Sam Smith. Having been sent by BURN FM as part of a press team last year, my excitement was reaching dangerous levels as we waited to see who would be on the bill this year.
Acts announced thus far include Sleigh Bells, 2ManyDJs, Dan Kroll, Chloe Howl, Hercules & Love Affair, tUnE – yArDs as well as Birmingham favourites Electric Swing Circus. With many more acts still to be announced, Blissfields 2014 promises to be a spectacular fixture in this year’s festival calendar. Set in the idyllic scenery of rural Hampshire and repeatedly blessed with the sunniest weekend of the year, this festival is a perfect blend of being able to party and chill to your heart’s content (a spa area has been added this year).
Blissfields has a history of featuring acts who have gone onto to be HUGE. Past performances have come from Lucy Rose, Jake Bugg, Mumford & Sons and even Bastille, who in 2011 performed a day time slot in the Bradley Bubble tent. With rising stars this year like Dan Croll and Chloe Howl (returning for a second year running), Blissfields offers a great chance to see big names without the drawback of larger festivals.
