Don’t miss out on this Summers incredible Sport!
Exam season is just around the corner. Something I am sure you all don’t need reminding of. With constant heads in books and struggling to find a seat in the overcrowded library have a little something to look forward to over the forthcoming months. Exams may be nearing but that also means so is Summer. With Summer comes a whole host of incredible sport at your fingertips. So what is actually happening sporting wise over the next few months? I am so happy you asked. Here are some of my highlights I am excited for.
April:
2nd – Rowing Boat Race – The annual Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race will be taking place. It’s all to play for between these two major rivals
6th– 9th – Golf Masters – Taking place in Augusta, Georgia, USA with Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth looking to be favourites.
7th – Cricket County Championship – the British summer brings the boys out in their cricket whites. That’s right its county cricket season.
8th – Grand National – with the biggest horse race of the year less than a week away its time to place your bets. Will Vieux Lion Rouge, Definitely Red or One of Arthur be your favourites?
8th – World Cup of Gymnastics – London will be hosting this incredible event this year. Not one to miss as our team will be taking to the floor to attempt to hold onto some of our world and Olympic titles.

12th – 16th – Track World Champions – Us Brits are known for our cycling. We have consistently won world and Olympic titles over the last decade. How many more shall we win this time?
23rd – London Marathon – One of the biggest marathons in the world where people will be raising money for a whole host of charities. The fancy dress is a reason to get down to London to watch if not anything else.
23rd – 39th – Ice Hockey – Great Britain are hosting the World Championship division 1B in Belfast this month. After the huge crowds at Ice Bull this year I’m sure a lot of you will be wanting to catch this tournament.
29th – Boxing – It’s a huge match. Anthony Joshua will be taking on Wladimir Klitschko in a heavyweight world title fight that will be taking place at London’s Wembley Stadium. Not one to miss
May:
3rd – 7th – Badminton Horse Trails – a huge event on an equestrian lover’s calendar.
5th -7th – Cricket – Who will win in the One Day International between England v Ireland?
12th – Rugby Union – The European Rugby Challenge Cup Final will be taking place right here in the UK in the Scottish Capital of Edinburgh.
13th – Football – Women’s FA Cup Final will be taking place in Wembley a huge event for all football fanatics.
20th-21st – Rugby Sevens – If you love the fast pace of normal Rugby Union you’ll love the speed of Rugby Sevens. With even higher scores and more try’s it’s the ultimate spectator sport taking place at the Home of Rugby that is Twickenham this year.
24th – Football – Europa League Final.
29th – Table Tennis – the World Championships will be happening in Germany this year.
June:
1st – Football – Women’s Champions League Final.
1st -18th – Cricket – the Champions Trophy. Some of the fixtures will be taking place just round the corner at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
3rd – Football – Men’s Champions League Final.
10th – Football – 2018 World Cup qualifies will see Scotland take on England and Northern Ireland fight it out against Northern Ireland.

10th – 11th – Triathlon – The World Series will be held in Leeds. Will the Brownlee brothers win even more medals?
11th – Football – 2018 World Cup qualifies where Wales will test Serbia and the Republic of Ireland will battle Austria.
15th -18th – Gold – US open.
17th – 25th – Sailing – Stuck having a very British Summer? Imagine you’re in Bermuda in the America’s Cup.
20th – 24th – Horse Racing – Royal Ascot is the place to wear your finest clothes this year.
22nd – 30th – Taekwondo – a whole week of the best of the best fighting it out to win the title of world champion.
24th – 23rd June – Cricket – a whole moth of the women’s world cup. What more could you ask for?
July:
1st – 23rd – Tour de France – Will Chris Froome from GB win it two years running?

3rd – 16th – Wimbledon – strawberries and cream at the ready. Can Murray do the double?
12th – 22nd – Lacrosse – Women’s Lacrosse World Cup is coming to the UK. Come and watch in Surrey.
14th – 23rd – Disability Sport – World ParaAthletic Championships will be taking place in London this year.
14th – 30th – Swimming and Diving – Will GB come home with more medals after our Olympic triumphs in the pool? Only time will tell at the World Aquatics Championships.
16th – British Grand Prix – taking place in the one and only Silverstone.
16th -16th August – Women’s Euro 2017 is not one to miss with our women looking strong.
August:
3rd – 6th – Golf – Women’s British Open will be held in the stunning grounds of Kingsbarn in Scotland.
4th – 13th – Athletics – London is looking busy this summer for sport with the World Championships taking place in our capital.
9th -26th – Rugby Union – Women’s World Cup will be held in Ireland. Will our women continue their Six Nations Success?
10th – 13th – Golf – PGA Championship gets underway.
19th – 27th – Hockey – will our women hold onto Olympic success in the EuroHockey Championships? Will our men seek revenge?
21st – 27th – Badminton – the UK are lucky to be holding the world championships in Glasgow this year.
27th – Motorcycling – British Moto Grand Prix in Silverstone.
31st – Basketball – EuroBasket ball gets underway.
With all this incredible Sport at your disposal there are endless excuses for revision breaks and a procrastination.
