Ex- University of Birmingham student, Isobel Christiansen, has been called up to the senior England Women’s Football squad for the first time for the European Championship Qualifiers. Currently playing for Manchester City in the Women’s Super League (WSL), having joined them in 2014 from Birmingham, where she spent four years previously.
As well as this she already has several years of International experience, representing her country at age group levels for the under-15’s right up to the under-23’s, making 12 appearances for the under-23’s, scoring one goal. She’s having notable success at National level so far, helping Great Britain win a gold medal in the 2013 Summer Universiadg.
The midfielder/ forward has also enjoyed success at domestic level, scoring the winner in City Women’s 1-0 win over Chelsea in last season’s WSL Continental Cup final. And Christiansen has been in good form lately, even as recently as last night (06/09/2015) when she scored in City’s 1-0 victory over Sunderland in the WSL.
The first opportunity for Christiansen to make her senior debut will come against Estonia on the 21st of September, in a European Championships Qualifier.
