The Tom Wykes Indie Show will showcase the best of British indie across the last 30 years from Blur to Stereophonics, to more modern indie icons such as Sam Fender, Wolf Alice, Holly Humberstone and Sea Girls. I will keep the genre of indie rather broad and will play britpop (Suede, Pulp etc.), indie-rock (Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Wombats), indie-pop (Alfie Templeman, Two Door Cinema Club) but also alt-rock artists such as Fontaines D.C., Sports Team and The Strokes. I would also really like to incorporate an indie locals element to the show, where i play the music of, interview and promote Uni bands and local Brum bands emerging onto the indie scene such as Overpass and The Clause. Finally, and most importantly, i am and advocate for celebrating women in music and believe women are underappreciated in the U.K. indie scene. I will therefore be striving to play a 50-50 split of male and female artists on my show. I would also like to have special themed shows such as: Tom‘s breakout artists of 2023, Tom‘s albums to look forward to this year, festival specials, a woman’s hour etc. P.S. I’d love to keep my Wednesday Breakfast Show slot from last semester
