Australian indie dance group San cisco have given us the first glimpse of their upcoming album with their brand new single ‘RUN’ and they’ve done it in style. Based on all the popularity they got from their debut album singles back in 2012, ‘RUN’ was not likely to disappoint the well-earned fan base that they’ve built up.
The track bursts straight into the sound of panting from lead singer Jordi. It’s more of a sensual rather than out-of-breath pant however, and it actually seems to be incredibly effective on songs. For those attentive listeners, it might sound strangely similar to the intro of ‘My humps’ by The Black Eyed Peas or even Kanye West’s ‘Black Skinhead’ renowned pant running throughout the whole song.
A great snappy bass line and guitar riff follow on from the intro and seem to add a much funkier and distinctive vibe to their new sound. Layer by layer the song builds up to reach what could be said to be their catchiest chorus to date and definitely promises great sing-alongs in their upcoming RUN tour shows in Australia.
The band stated in an interview on Triple-J earlier this week that they “wanted to make a song that made you want to dance”, which initially started the inspiration for RUN and ultimately created an extremely addictive and catchy hit.
This single will hopefully be a good representation of what there is to come, as it has shown some great development and experimenting from the bands technical side, while maintaining that dancy and cheerful twang to their music.
