You may be yet to discover this upcoming student run event but after their second event, it’s clear that Fuze is not one to miss.
Set in the lesser known but intimate venue of Suki10c, nestled in the heart of Digbeth, Fuze welcomed a sold out crowd, desperate for some underground music and a great night. The ceiling is low, the lights are bright and the drinks are cheap, making it the ultimate setting for this event. The funky venue allows you to be up close to the decks, giving the feeling that it’s some kind of exclusive private show. This is also helped by the exceptional talent of some of UoB’s best upcoming DJ’s. From Circa, to Disko Haus and DJ Pete there wastop quality music all night, as revellers seemed to dance the night away to this varied mix of tunes.
From garage, to disco and house, there was something to suit everyone. With massive speakers the room was bouncing to the young DJ’s as they cracked out amazing sets. People commented saying ‘I love the venue, and the music, it’s very unique’ and ‘It’s so cool to see the talent that’s at our uni.’ The atmosphere was vibrant and the smaller venue made way for a friendly crowd all enjoying this mini-gig together. It really felt like a private gig, yet one made for a student budget. Disko Haus cracked out all the bangers with an eclectic mix that got the crowd going. Throwing it back with some Disco and Old School RnB, Circa, one of the event organisers hit the stage. He whipped the crowd up perfectly with dancers all night ready for DJ Pete, a fellow organiser, who closed the night with his Garage mix. DJ Pete, has played at events like Seedy Sonics so definitely didn’t disappoint. His garage mix is always a hit and certainly got everyone grooving right to the end.
It was a definite success. Event organiser, Matt Page, said ‘It was a great feeling to sell out for our return to Suki10c, we love the venue here and it’s great to give UoB DJ’s a chance to perform live’. Joe Martin, Burn FM show host and event organiser was also pleased with the success and was really happy that the night sold out! The night certainly surpassed the expectation of a student run night, it ran smoothly like a professionally organised night but at the mere price of £4, Fuze is the perfect chance to try a new type of club night and definitely has a strong future ahead.
