Slam Dunk is back again with a phenomenal line up highlighting some of the best rock and pop punk bands currently in the scene. The eagerly anticipated headliners Enter Shikari are set to wow audiences with their ‘Take To The Skies’ ten-year celebration. Vocalist Rou, of Enter Shikari, has says: “Slam Dunk is a festival that we’ve been attending from the very start! It’s grown into one of the most important festivals in alternative music, and it will be an absolute honour to headline it in 2017.”
The festival is renowned for its ability to bring together a diverse collection of acts and styles, across a staggering eight stages. From English rock bands like Don Broco and Deaf Havana to ska punks Less Than Jake and Goldfinger, as well as covering metalcore with bands like Beartooth and to pop punks Bowling for Soup and Neck Deep. Slam Dunk has three full-on dates in three diverse locations in the Midlands (Saturday 27th May), North (Sunday 28th May) and South (Monday 29th May). Slam Dunk South has already completely sold out, and the organisers warn that Slam Dunk North will shortly follow in the next few weeks, while the Midlands date will again be held in Birmingham’s NEC following the success of last year.
What makes Slam Dunk stand out from its competitors is that it brings together such an eclectic array of brilliant artists into a single day meaning that you don’t have to compromise seeing the bands you love if you aren’t a fan of camping overnight. The festival starts at 1pm and goes on until 11pm, as well as providing you with the choice to carry on the fun until 3am at the Total Uprawr afterparty for an additional £5. The variety of location and competitive price of £44 in advance, when judged against other major UK rock festivals like Download or Reading and Leeds, makes Slam Dunk a great choice for students on a budget who still want to see their favourite bands this summer! With over 50 bands announced so far and still more to follow in the next few weeks Slam Dunk is once again set to be the place to be this summer!
