This Tuesday End of the Road Festival organisers announced the first wave of acts for the stunning Dorset festival taking place on September 2-4. Set to headline are the New York, experimental pop-rock quartet, that is Animal Collective, alongside the singer and harpist Joanna Newsom, and Bat For Lashes, aka, Natasha Khan.
With a big outcry happening after the lack of female artists booked for festivals last year, it is more than refreshing to see End of The Road Festival, which is set in the gorgeous Larmer Tree Gardens, book two female headliners, as well as supporting many other great, upcoming female fronted acts in comparison to the amount at other, popular festivals such as Reading and Leeds.
After her headline set at the festival in 2011, this is expected to be Newsom’s only UK festival date of the year and with plenty of new material from the critically acclaimed 2015 album, Divers, she is set to be a crowd pleaser.
Other females proudly gracing the bill are American artist, Cat Power, new British favourite, Shura, Basia Bulat, EERA, The Big Moon and US Girls. Alongside these female acts are also GOAT, Venezuelan American musician Devendra Barnhart and one’s to watch, Brooklyn trio, Sunflower Bean.
With plenty more artists yet to be announced, alongside the list of films that will be shown at the festival, activities that will be taking place and added surprises, End of The Road Festival is already set to continue its emergence onto the wider festival radar.
