Boardmasters have one of the most eclectic lineups for a smaller festival this year. Headliners DeadMau5, James Bay, Kaiser Chiefs and Primal Scream make quite the variety! That definitely isn’t to say it’s a bad thing – seeing any of those headliners, on the beach… in Cornwall… in August… that’s my idea of a good summer festival.
The main theme for the music seems to be grime and dance, with everyone’s old school favourite Example returning this summer, and Sigma and Wilkinson doing live and DJ sets. There’s also some great chilled folk-style acts, like Gabrielle Aplin and Jamie Lawson, and the incredible pop goddess Lianne La Havas. Craig David is playing too, presumably complete with his comeback vibes, and Wolf Alice and Mystery Jets will bring some indie-rock energy to the beach.
One of the biggest appeals about Boardmasters is the daytime surf, and being in prime location in Newquay means the competition will be fierce and exciting as ever. There’s also a skatepark for those who aren’t into the wetsuit look!
