Wok Chi – a family run business- seems to be slowing taking over as one of the better restaurants in Harborne even though they just celebrated their grand opening ceremony a few weeks ago. The restaurant has a modern style with an oriental touch. The lanterns and traditional steamers create a beautiful feature wall that would definitely catch your eye when you first walk in. The wooden décor gives a very rustic yet homely feel to the seating area and the ample natural light just builds on the comfort level.
What I love about Wok Chi the most is the fact that they customise their dishes to your liking. I tend to favour dishes more on the spicy side and they definitely deliver! My personal favourite has to be the Chinese curry with a touch of spice. It has a nice layered flavour that slowly imparts the taste of different spices and the fresh vegetables add a nice crunch. The food is always piping hot as it is prepared when you order, thrown and tossed together to perfection. Again, as with nearly all their dishes, there is an option to customise. The curry can be served with either egg fried rice, soft chow mein noodles, crispy thin noodles and regular jasmine rice. There are also gluten free and vegetarian options for our health conscious friends. Another one of my top favourites would definitely be the Seafood Udon Noodles with XO Chilli. The mildly flavoured noodles and seafood soak up the deliciousn

ess of the chilli oil imparting it with its own unique flavour that melts in your mouth. Despite the fact that the portion sizes might be a bit too big for some and the food is slightly on the pricier end for your average Chinese takeout, the quality and freshness of the food definitely makes up for it. The staff are wonderful, eager to ensure the highest level of satisfaction on top of maintaining an extremely clean environment.
