Birmingham Basketball 1’s dominant in win over Worcester 2’s
The Birmingham Lions basketball men’s 1st team were outstanding in a 91-45 win over the lowly Worcester 2nd team at the Munrow on Wednesday. The winless visitors were thoroughly outplayed throughout as the Lions dominated.
At first glance it looked like we might have a game on as Worcester took a 7-6 lead in the opening minutes. This would not continue. Worcester started racking up fouls and quickly the Lions took a comfortable lead, ending the first quarter 26-13.
The second quarter started slowly and Worcester again marched back closing the home teams advantage, however the Lions picked it back up, mostly due to the play of Davis, who put on a sensational display, and was simply too powerful for Worcester to deal with. The Lions would go to half relaxed leading 46-25.
A couple minutes into the second half and it was clear that this game was over. Worcester was deflated, even their coach was sunken into his seat looking down as Birmingham continually outclassed their opponents. The game started to lull with the only moments of note being some nice Lions offensive play as they went to the final quarter 67-37 up.
Then Birmingham added the final touches to their win with a couple classier bits of play ending the game with a 91-45 win.
The Lions can be happy with a win, as they did what their job against a winless team, however next week’s match against an undefeated Oxford team may not be so routine, however the squad will go into that game with confidence after this outstanding performance.
