A body has been discovered this afternoon at the University of Birmingham student accommodation. Police were called to the scene at 3:30pm and remained on the site throughout the afternoon. The body has yet to be officially identified but it is believed to be a “man in his forties.”
Green tarpaulin was erected around the site with various students watching scenes unfold from around 60m away.
The body was removed from the lake shortly before 6pm but it has yet to be identified. Police remain at the site this evening.
In a statement, a West Midlands Police Spokesman police said:
“Officers were called to a lake in Edgbaston Park Road just before 3:30pm today. The body has not been formally identified at this stage, but is believed to be a man in his forties. A post mortem will take place but police are not treating the death as suspicious at this stage.”
Students have been told to expect more information once the police have finished their investigation.
