Everyone’s favourite British indie rock band are finally back with new single ‘Handsome’. Ever since their debut in 2011, The Vaccines have been filling the ears of fans with their signature carefree arrogant sound of chaos and pop and ‘Handsome’ continues in much the same manner. Thus, the world welcomes the comeback of London quartet with open arms and a serious need to invest in their iconic bomber jackets.
After the more mature sound that appeared on their second album Come Of Age, ‘Handsome’ seems to slip back into the sound of What Did You Expect From The Vaccines. The Track starts with the uplifting sound of clapping that rockets throughout the rest of the song, giving it a hypnotic beat which admittedly just makes you want to dance. The song is seductive, fast paced and full of energy right from the get go, with a delirious bass line, contagious guitar riff and reckless drumming the song can only be described as a pop rock explosion. The poetic brilliance of Justin Young is heard in the chorus when he howls “Cause, I got so down I held the world for ransom, Lonely bored and bad, thank God I’m Handsome” and reminds us of the bands signature tongue in cheek tone. It’s a powerful song that is undoubtedly going to send crowds in to a signature Vaccines frenzy.
Overall, the impulsive melody and seduction of Justin’s voice makes for a good track and leaves fans anticipating the sound of forthcoming album ‘English Graffiti’. A delicious introduction to the new Vaccines era.
