As new members to Burn FM and the Music Team this year, Luke Grindlay and I were thrilled to have the opportunity to interview the up-and-coming pop artist Eloise Viola. Eloise performed two of her songs acoustically with the guitar accompaniment of her bandmate Cam – one of which was her latest release ‘Trying to Love Ya’, a great energetic dance anthem. Eloise discussed how a lot of her music is about body positivity and self-love, and this stemmed from her time at university where she had many negative thoughts influencing how she viewed herself. Having grown up with idols such as Adele and Guns N’ Roses, Eloise has created a unique and different sound that blends together the genres of Dance and Pop. Originally, Eloise set out wanting to write music that was heartbreak focused but decided to channel complete positivity as a way of helping her listeners and fans. Rather than talking about these issues on social media, she wanted to make such conversations a bigger part of her life through music.
Meeting Eloise was a bit nerve-racking (as this was our first interview ever!) but she was warm and friendly towards us answering all our questions. We had a strong debate about Christmas music and how it wasn’t her favourite genre, with no plans to release a song of her own. Eloise is a great role model for women who are trying to break into the music industry – whilst visiting Burn, she was touring around England in her two-week holiday that she had booked off from work! Eloise works a full-time job in social media for other music artists and fits her own music career around her job. Lockdown was a crucial and enjoyable time for Eloise as she went back to Brighton to write and record multiple songs in her family home. We chatted about how Lockdown was difficult for many people in the performance industry with tours being cancelled, but for Eloise and other up-and-coming artists, it was a creative time for songwriting and studio recording. We look forward to hearing more music from Eloise Viola and seeing where her music career leads her in the future – she will always be welcome at Burn FM.
