Last night, Birmingham Promoters kicked off The B29 Tour at the Actress & Bishop with the stellar line up of Shai Brides, Portobello, Harico, Fergus Channell and Midge. These 5 talented acts showcased the incredible music Selly Oak has to offer, and will continue to do so on the other 4 dates of their tour across the country.
The evening began with an ethereal performance from Midge, who opened the tour perfectly. Following this, Fergus Channell captivated the audience with his alternative jazz fusion whose sound filled the Actress and Bishop.
Next to take the stage was Harico who, having released a new single, ‘One To Hold The Gun’, the same day, there was much anticipation to see their performance amongst the crowd; with a performance as slick as ever the 4-piece left everyone in good spirits from their up-beat set. Continuing the high energy was Portobello, who had the audience singing along to almost all of their songs, even the tracks from their up-coming EP. As ever their performance was energetic and had every member of the audience dancing.
Closing the show was Shai Brides, who ended the gig superbly. The togetherness and chemistry of the band was clear and could be felt from the crowd; all of the members shone but frontman, Thom Dent’s performance stood out and brought together all the elements of their set. Finishing with their latest single, Joie de Vivre which has had airtime on Radio 6 had the entire audience singing along to finish the night with a band.
From start to finish, the evening was a true celebration of the talent of B29; so if you find yourselves in Leeds, Nottingham, Bristol and London, make sure to get yourselves down to The B29 Tour.
