Reign of Suffering is the debut album of Sheffield band, Malevolence. After touring hard for the previous 3 years, gaining nationwide attention for an incredible live show, their debut album was hotly anticipated. Blending the heaviness of bands such as Lamb of God, the groove of Pantera, and the hardcore elements of Hatebreed, this is an album for anyone who loves really heavy music. Opening the album with ‘In The Face of Death’, the band showcase elements of all of their influences and really kicks off the album with a bang. The album keeps getting better and better the further you get into it, with standout songs such as ‘Serpent Chokehold’, which was released early for free on their Facebook, as well as the brilliant ‘Eternal Torment’, which is one of the best metal songs of 2013. This is one of best metal albums of 2013, and one of the best debut metal albums since While She Sleep’s This Is the Six. With more UK and European tour dates to be announced in 2014, Malevolence is a band on the rise with big things ahead for them.
